'I am so pleased to be stocked by Not Another Bunch Of Flowers as I meet so many ladies who tell me that they wish they had of known about me when they were going through chemo. One of my pretty handmade Liberty print ready-tied headscarves is the perfect present to brighten up someone’s day & make them feel instantly pretty & feminine.
I make bespoke dresses under the label Featherstone Frocks (www.featherstonefrocks.com) and in 2012 one of my lovely dress clients asked me if I could make some turbans & bandanas for her as she was going through chemotherapy. Since then I have been approached by many other ladies who wanted something pretty, luxurious & a bit more “high end” than the product currently available out there! Having lost both my parents to cancer in my early twenties I am very much aware of the needs of cancer patients & felt I wanted to create a business that used my fashion knowledge whilst giving back to MacMillan whom I donate a percentage of all my online sales to. I have a degree in textiles & am passionate about fabrics which is why I have selected the finest quality 100% cotton Liberty tana lawn prints which are all gorgeous; they just get softer & softer with washing. I use only the best quality fabrics and feel strongly that only natural fabrics will do – no sweaty polyesters here! Only natural fabrics are breathable & wickable which will keep you warm in Winter & cool in Summer. The Liberty tana lawn fabric is lightweight & the headscarf is unlined so exactly like wearing a blouse on your head. It will keep you both looking & feeling cool in the Summer. I also wanted to create something that was quick & easy to put on so my ready-tied headscarf for sale on Not Another Bunch of Flowers is just that. I designed it to flatter every face shape. It is cut in 3 panels which gives extra height above the face. I find most of my ladies turn back the front panel to give more height but it can also be pushed back flat to give more of a bandanna type effect. It has a small elasticated section at the back but also has a flattering tie – belt & braces! This is the style for anyone who wants to wear a pretty headscarf but doesn’t want to have the hassle of learning to tie a square one, and it is completely secure on your head, alleviating the worry that a regular headscarf might slip or blow away. It looks great worn under a straw hat in the summer and the ties at the back create an illusion of hair. This style can be put on and tied in seconds and can be taken on & off already tied if you are post-operative & raising your hands to fiddle with headscarves isn’t so easy.
